Dear Parents

Please note the following flash points of information as we arrive at the halfway point of a very busy Term 4.

The College AGM takes place tomorrow night, Thursday 6 November, at 18h00. This is our opportunity to reflect the financial position of the College for the 2024 financial year and provide an overview of College developments in 2024, as well as plans moving forward.

As referenced in Circular 06/2025, the OISESA surveys will be conducted this term. To this end, all stakeholders in the College: Council, parents, pupils, support staff, administrative staff, and academic staff, are invited to participate in the process. This process provides an opportunity to voice opinion in order for the College to take stock of areas where we are doing well, and also to review areas that need improvement. It is an invaluable tool that enables and guides strategic thinking and planning. It also provides a perfect opportunity to review and reflect on the current status of the school with regard to functionality and perception. The survey will be conducted during the week Monday 17 November to Friday 21 November. Details regarding the survey will be communicated next week.

The building project at Izingwe is underway, with the clearing of the landscape coming to an end and the major earthworks about to begin. The machinery has arrived a little later than expected, but the work is expected to begin in earnest now and the service provider is adamant that the deadline of 23 April 2026 is still intact. Further updates regarding progress will be made via circulars from my desk and on social media.

Final examination season has landed with the Grade 12 IEB NSC programme now in full swing. Grades 6 – 7 begin their examinations on Friday 7 November and Grades 8 – 12 begin writing their examinations on Monday 10 November. Grades 6 – 7 end their examinations on Friday 14 November and Grades 8 – 11 end their examinations on Friday 28 November.

I mentioned the High School academic staff who are leaving at the end of the year at our Prize-giving ceremony. While the staff turnover is higher than what we have experienced over the last few years, it is important to note that there is absolutely nothing sinister behind the departures.

For reasons ranging from retirement to semigration for family reasons, and personal business ventures, we wish the teachers who are leaving all the best for the next exciting chapters of their lives. We also look forward to introducing the new staff for 2026 who are very excited to complete their tenures at
their respective schools and join the Felixton College family.

From examinations to end-of-year formal events and functions, and of course, our Nativity Play season, may we embrace both the formality of the term and the festivities of the season with all of the enthusiasm that we can muster.

I wish parents, pupils, and staff, all the best for the next few weeks as we engage in the busiest time of the year.

Kind regards

Wayne Rademan
