Dear Parents
We have once again begun our jam-packed Term 4 at pace and look forward to all that this busy term will bring.

Term 4
The last term of the year is only 8 weeks long, but is packed with events, functions, and general school fun and adventure. Please be reminded that the term runs until Friday 1 December. We finish the year with some flagship events in the form of our Junior School Prize-giving ceremonies and Grade 7 Farewell, while the High School pupils write full examinations. All events and functions take place up to the final day of the school year, so school attendance is compulsory up to Friday 1 December.

Junior School camps
Grades 6 and 7 thoroughly enjoyed their respective camps last week, and Grades 4 and 5 are exuding wonderful energy and enthusiasm as they gear up for their respective camps (which run from Wednesday 25 – Friday 27 October). Grades 1 – 3 will enjoy an outing to Sugar Bay on Thursday 26 October, returning on Friday 27 October. The safety of our children and teachers is paramount and we will keep the communication lines open for parents’ peace of mind.

High School Prize-Giving and Valedictory Service
This highlight on our school calendar served to acknowledge the excellent performances of our young men and women on Friday 13 October. Despite the evening being formal as a point of departure, the occasion provided for a wonderfully warm atmosphere in which we were able to celebrate the achievements of our pupils in Grades 8 – 12. The second portion of the evening was dedicated to the Grade 12 cohort in the form of a semi-formal Valedictory segment, designed to say farewell to the Matric Class of 2023.

Junior School Building
It still feels a surreal, at times, to walk through our Junior School and be surrounded by brand new buildings. We are truly blessed!

While we have already enjoyed our grand opening where pupils and parents could all walk through the new block and experience the amenities at close proximity, we will be holding a small gathering in the form of a Dedication Ceremony on Thursday evening, 19 October 2023.

This ceremony is for invited guests, who have long-standing working relationships with the school, to join the Junior School staff and Mr Jakes Olivier (pastor at Solid Ground Church), in prayer for blessing over our Junior School. It will also give the invited guests an opportunity to experience the amenities at close proximity.

Moving forward, we are planning family evenings per Grade in the coming weeks of this term, as well as Term 1 of next year, to complete the process of settling into, and celebrating, our new facilities.

Solar Solution
In short, load shedding at Felixton College is a thing of the past. The system that has been installed, commissioned, and handed over to us by 365Solar, now allows for the school to function at full capacity – ensuring optimal productivity on any given day.

In closing, we pray for wisdom, patience, strength, and safety, as we move to close off a rather significant year in the history of Felixton College.

Kind regards

Wayne Rademan
