Newsletter 05/2023

Dear Parents

2023 has been a wonderfully successful year for our school, and it certainly positions itself as a momentous one in the history of Felixton College.

Along with smaller in-house facelifts, our major school projects (a new Junior School, a full solar solution for the school, and a new classroom for Grade RRRR) are all complete, and they have made an immensely positive impact on our respective daily lives at school.

There are many Term 4 highlights, but I have pointed to the flagship events for each of the Phases in bullet form – for ease of reference. These events and functions form the backbone of our annual end-of-year celebrations, and also represent the culmination of an incredibly rewarding journey through the course of any given year at our school.

Roots

  • Pre-Primary Nativity Play
  • Christmas Party

Junior School

  • Junior Primary Nativity Play
  • Grade 7 Farewell Dinner
  • Junior Primary Prize-giving
  • Senior Primary Prize-giving

High School

  • High School Prize-giving and Valedictory Ceremony
  • Grade 12 Bell Ringing Ceremony
  • Grade 12 IEB NSC examinations

These examinations went very well. There were no irregularities and the examination papers appear to have been fair and of a good, accessible standard. We are expecting stellar performances from our top candidates and a sound set of results from the Grade 12 Class of 2023. IEB results are expected to be sent through to Heads of schools next year (17 January 2024) and will be published shortly after that – depending on UMALUSI approval.

Two all-school initiatives were our annual Charity Toy Collection (DICE) for the Suzuki Bike Run and the collection of goods for our support staff Christmas hampers. I am not only heartened, but also a little overwhelmed, by the generosity our school community. I therefore, on behalf of the facilitators of the toy collection, and our support staff, take this opportunity to express heartfelt thanks to each of our families for your generous donations.

I close by wishing our entire Felixton College family a safe, peaceful, joyous, and festive Christmas holiday with family and friends.

Here’s to a successful 2023 … and an even more successful … rewarding … and exciting 2024!

Kind regards
Wayne Rademan
